With the writ dropped for a provincial election in Ontario this June 12th, our candidate Alex Cullen is now busy campaigning to win an NDP seat in Ottawa West-Nepean. The campaign team is busy planning canvasses, creating campaign literature and generally working to get the word out about why Alex is the best candidate to represent Ottawa West-Nepean in Queen's Park. Our signs are ready, and we'll be getting them out on Ottawa thoroughfares as soon as it's permitted (not until May 13th by Ottawa bylaw).

Alex Cullen's web site, http://alexcullen.ca, is now the Alex Cullen Campaign web site. Alex also has a facebook page, Alex Cullen, and can be followed on Twitter as @Alex_S_Cullen .

If you're interested in helping out on Alex's campaign, or would like an Alex Cullen sign on your lawn (show your colours!), send him an e-mail at alexcullen@ontariondp.ca.

Financial support would also be very welcome. You can donate online at https://donate.ontariondp.com/pages/donate-dev?ridingCampaignId=36066

Alex CullenAlex Cullen was acclaimed as the new Provincial NDP candidate in the Ottawa West-Nepean riding at a meeting of the local NDP Riding Association on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Alex was introduced by Paul Dewar, Member of Parliament and Foreign Affairs critic for the New Democratic Party of Canada. The meeting was well attended by members of the Ottawa West-Nepean NDP and others. The meeting was chaired by riding president Marlene Rivier. "The entry of an NDP candidate of the caliber of Alex Cullen transforms this traditional swing riding into a clear three way race", says Rivier.

Alex has held this riding before after winning it in a by-election in 1997. He has also been councillor for Bay Ward and ran for Mayor of the City of Ottawa in 2010.

Alex Cullen has a proven record as a progressive active in his community, from local community activist to Ottawa City Hall and Queen`s Park, and in the non-profit sector. An economist by training , Alex has worked in the private sector and the public sector while finding time to be a school council chair, community association president and service club president while raising a family. Following the nomination meeting, the provincial and federal riding associations held their respective Annual General Meetings.  Riding executives were chosen for the coming year, during which many observers expect there may be a provincial election in Ontario. Oliver Kent, president of the Ottawa Centre Federal NDP Riding Association, presided over the election of the executive. The new riding executive is posted under About the Riding Associations.
