OWN will be at Convention 2019

The Ontario NDP is having its biannual convention this year in Hamilton from June 14th to 16th. Our riding association got together to choose our delegation on Monday evening at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre.

Our riding association president, Alex Cullen, presided over the meeting, which selected six delegates, one youth delegate and two alternates to attend convention. They will be joined by our three Provincial Council delegates.

As well as choosing delegates, the meeting debated policy resolutions for presentation at convention. One resolution was debated and passed, and so will be considered for debate at Provincial Convention,

Resolution on Proportional Representation (PR)

Be it resolved that the Ontario NDP work with our allies in the labour movement and other civil society groups to mobilise renewed non-partisan interest in replacing first-past-the-post elections with democratic proportional representation as stated in our present policy #5.1.23 “Proportional Representation.”

We still have room for more delegates which your executive has been empowered to fill. If you're interested, e-mail us at info@ownndp.ca .
