** NOTICE **
The date and room of our AGM has been changed.
The Annual General Meeting of the Ottawa West-Nepean NDP Federal and Provincial Constituency Associations, as well as a Provincial Nomination Meeting, will be held on Thursday, June, 27, 2013.
Woodroffe United Church (Scout Hall),
207 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa
(on east side of Woodroffe north of Carling Avenue and south of Richmond Road).
Parking at back of church.
Purpose of Meeting:
- To receive annual reports and to elect an Executive.
- To select a candidate for any upcoming Ontario Election.
Call for nominations: Members are asked to fill the following seven positions which are set out in the Constitution: President; Vice-President; Secretary; Chief Financial Officer; Membership Organizer; Youth Officer; Women’s Representative. Our riding is entitled to 3 delegates to the Ontario Provincial Council (who must be Executive members and may also hold other positions above). The AGM may also elect people to serve in other positions as identified or required by the Constituency Association at the Annual General Meeting.
These are exciting times for the NDP, and people are looking for accountable leadership provincially and federally. We must give our Ottawa West-Nepean NDP candidates the best organization we can muster. Electing a dynamic executive with a commitment to do this is a good start. Can you offer your time and expertise?
Some of our longer serving executive members have indicated that they will not be seeking re-election. We are very grateful for their contributions over many years of service. This is a good time for interested members of the riding association to step forward and take up these opportunities to build on our momentum as a party and as a riding. We are also keenly interested in attracting a Youth Representative to our executive (who must be no more than 25 years of age), as our current executive has a vacancy in that position.
Please contact us to find out more or to place your own name or that of someone else (with their permission) in nomination for election to the Executive.
If you don’t have time to serve on the Executive (which carries out administration of the federal and provincial ridings, meets monthly and heads up committees), there are many other ways of contributing your time and help. Come to the Annual General Meeting and decide which of the committees and working groups you’d like to be part of.
The meeting is open to members and observers. Members in good standing are eligible to vote on motions and on the election of a new executive. If you have not yet paid your 2013 dues you may do so at the meeting.
Hope to see you there! Refreshments will be served.
